Yes, there is a admission fee. As you appear to live in Reno, you have two options, 1) give them a phone call and asK. 2) Visit them and ask. Trust this information will be helpful.

I'm guessing your looking for options and won't dismiss any, out of hand : (1) Lyft or Uber is an option ; (2) Walking is an option during the daytime (it is about 2.2miles one way if you take the most direct route) ; (3) The bus (they say) is about $2 and takes about 20mins (one way), but you would first have to walk from the Peppermill to the "Center/Liberty" bus stop (the hotel doorman should be able to direct you). Frankly, if you are on vacation, there are better ways to spend your limited time. I would take an Uber, Lyft or taxi. Get to the museum in the quickest way possible. Any time saved on transit can be used seeing the River Walk or ballpark (which are only a block away from the museum).
