Apple announced on Monday a slew of artificial intelligence features including opening up Apple Intelligence's underlying technology in a modest update of its software and services as it lays the groundwork for future advances.

Some developers feel ambivalent about the artificial-intelligence releases expected to come out of Apple’s annual developer gathering—a far cry from when WWDC was tech’s main event.

With Google and Microsoft’s developer conferences out of the way, now it’s time for Apple’s WWDC. The Cupertino company is gearing up to unveil new versions (and new numbers) for all its operating systems, as well as taking a second step at convincing everyone it’s a major player in the AI industry.
