President Donald Trump ran his 2024 campaign on a promise to enact mass deportation, and to do so immediately. The Wall Street Journal reports that four people familiar with the plan say the incoming administration is preparing for a large-scale immigration raid to begin in Chicago on Tuesday, and last a week.

Activist groups argued planned immigration raids are retaliatory in nature because of Chicago's sanctuary city status.

A group of Quaker congregations filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s new policy allowing immigration arrests in houses of worship, NBC reported, as federal law enforcement officials have significantly ramped up arrests across the country in recent days as part of what Trump has promised would be the “largest deportation operation” in U.

Details of planned immigration raids are unclear, but they would be the opening step in the president-elect’s goal of overseeing the largest deportation program in history.
