The future of San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus will once again be in the hands of voters after the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a charter amendment ballot measure authorizing supervisors to remove an elected sheriff for cause.

The board’s vote calls for a special election in March, when voters will decide whether to give the five-member body the authority to remove Corpus by a four-fifths vote.

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on a charter amendment to allow them to remove embattled Sheriff Christina Corpus from her position.
