Tens of thousands of Coloradans showed up in their hometowns to rally for democracy Saturday as “No Kings” protests unfolded across the state. At the largest of the demonstrations, in Denver, several thousand people holding banners and waiving signs protesting the Trump Administration lined the streets in front of the Colorado Capitol.
The “No Kings” rally, organized by the Clear Creek Democrats, included both Republicans and Democrats who oppose Trump’s leadership and the direction the country has headed. Demonstrators held signs and American flags and celebrated the Constitution and a welcoming attitude toward immigrants.
A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck 13 kilometers southwest of Elbert, Colorado, on Friday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The largest gathering in Colorado took place at the state Capitol, but many more protests were held in the metro area and beyond.

DENVER ( KDVR) — A “No Kings” protest in downtown Denver is causing road closures and service disruptions. The Denver Police Department said at 12:17 p.m. that Lincoln Street is closed at 14th Avenue and that additional road closures may occur in the area of the State Capitol Building. Alternate routes are advised to avoid traffic delays.
The epicenter of the quake was about 30 miles to the southeast of Denver, just outside of Elbert, near Castle Rock.
Denver firefighters rushed to a burning apartment at a complex in the area of Yosemite and Hampden early Friday morning.
