The initial list had included some of the country’s most recognizable buildings, along with courthouses, offices and even a parking garage, and spanned nearly every state, drawing concern from local officials.

Vacant former Isaac Baker building, part of Erie federal courthouse complex, was placed on government list of properties set "for disposal."

The John F. Kennedy and Tip O’Neill federal buildings in Boston and the newly built Volpe Transportation Systems Center in Kendall Square have been deemed "non-core" federal buildings.
