The U.S. and Mexico men's national soccer teams learned what nations they will or could face in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The US men’s soccer team will open June 12, face Australia on June 19 in Seattle and finish group play June 25 at SoFi Stadium against a team to be determined.

The United States drew a group composed of Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of European Play-Off C (which will be one of the Slovakia, Kosovo, Romania, and Türkiye contingent). The U.S. will open against Paraguay on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in California.

FIFA tries its best to make first-round World Cup life easy for certain teams, starting with the hosts. Consider that goal accomplished with Mexico. Not so for Canada. Or France and Germany, for that matter.

Despite a larger field, England and France both start in what are considered the toughest groups in the 2026 World Cup.
