California will close part of Interstate 5 today after military officials confirmed Saturday that live-fire artillery rounds will be shot over the freeway during a Marine Corps event.
I-5 closes 11 a.m.–3 p.m. for Marine Corps 250th anniversary live-fire demo at Camp Pendleton; expect major SoCal traffic delays.
"Because of the event and closure, drivers should expect delays on Interstate 5 and other state routes throughout Southern California before, during, and after the event," the press release says.
Vice President JD Vance is coming to Camp Pendleton on Saturday for the event. That’s led to planned freeway closures near the base.
