Jalen Brunson's performance with the New York Knicks has caught the attention of a former teammate and Dallas Mavericks legend.
In the case of Brown’s MVP campaign, though, it’s not realistic for Brunson to win MVP. Not while Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic are healthy. You could argue Brunson’s the best player in the East this season since Giannis Antetokounmpo is both shelved and rostered by a losing team (for now).
Hart’s point, in his own way, was clear: Brunson is playing at an elite level right now. And Knicks coach Mike Brown was more direct, walking into the postgame interview room Saturday and hammering home a specific point he’s been making in recent weeks — that Brunson, even this early in the season, belongs in the MVP conversation.

Jalen Brunson, at only 6-foot-1, hasn’t dunked in a regular-season game since the 2023-24 campaign. Victor Wembanyama, at 7-4, could jam on his tippy toes. No elevation needed.
