The Washington Capitals have shored up their goaltending tandem for the next few seasons by signing Charlie Lindgren to a three-year extension worth $9 million.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have re-signed goaltender Charlie Lindgren to a three-year, $9 million contract extension, senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick announced today. Lindgren’s contract will carry an average annual value of $3 million.

Lindgren took the ice for Washington’s morning skate Monday to a cacophony of stick taps and cheers from his Capitals teammates.
