Disrespect? Michigan State basketball falls in first AP Poll of 2025-26 season
You can doubt Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans at your own risk. On Monday, the first AP Poll of the 2025-26 college basketball season dropped, and the Spartans fell 15 spots since the last ranking, now coming in at No. 22 overall. They finished last season at No. 7.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is still the nation’s No. 1 team in the AP Top 25, though a Big Ten foe is creeping closer. Ohio State maintained its top ranking after improving to 7-0 on Saturday. The Buckeyes played at Wisconsin, taking down the Badgers, 34-0, to remain unbeaten heading into their second bye week.
Michigan and Michigan State both landed in Monday’s preseason AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll. The Wolverines were ranked seventh; the Spartans were at No. 22. The regular season begins on Nov. 3, with both teams in action that night.
