Game 3 of the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens series erupted into chaos when Tom Wilson and Josh Anderson took their fight off the ice and to the benches.

Mayhem broke loose after the second period in Game 3 between the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens. As the Canadiens and Capitals headed for the dressing rooms after the horn, subtle bumps and shoves between both teams escalated into a fight on an empty bench.

Playoff hockey is known for its intensity and physicality, with most of the action happening on the ice. But in game three of the first round between the Capitals and Canadiens, the tension spilled into the benches.

The Capitals had a standout season, too.They finished first in the Eastern Conference and posted their most points in a season since 2016-17, a year before they won the Stanley Cup. It's also the first 50-win season since the 2016-17 campaign.

St. Louis won the Stanley Cup in 2004 as a Hall of Fame-bound forward with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has fond memories of his boyhood, watching the Canadiens bring the city to life in the playoffs. It was the only time he was allowed to stay up past his usual bedtime to watch televised games.
