The approximately six-week closure of Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train service allows crews to safely and efficiently conduct emergency repairs.

Landslides and the shifting railroad bed beneath the tracks just north of Camp Pendleton have stopped passenger service through San Clemente for months at a time in recent years. OCTA officials said the area remains unstable and urgent action is needed to prevent further interruptions.

The rail service suspension is in effect while emergency stabilization work is done on sections of track that are at immediate risk.
