A House Task Force investigating the assassination attempts against Donald Trump earlier this year has called on the Secret Service to reduce the number of people it protects and "review" its investigative role after "failures" almost led to tragedy.

A new report suggests the U.S. Secret Service protect fewer people during election season and consider moving out of the Homeland Security Department.

The report's authors noted that the number of people the agency is tasked with protecting has “greatly expanded.” At the same time, the presidential campaign season is getting longer and more intense.
