A Cambodian government official has sung praise to U.S. President Donald Trump for "bringing about peace" after Thailand and Cambodia agreed to a cease-fire starting at midnight local time on Monday.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai agreed to a halt in fighting, starting at midnight, while appearing with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The UN Security Council held an emergency closed-door meeting Friday in New York. Malaysia, which chairs the 10-nation regional bloc that includes both countries, called for an end to the hostilities and offered to mediate.
