A massive law enforcement operation is ongoing as authorities search for Vance Boelter, the 57-year-old man suspected of the politically-motivated killing of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, and the wounding of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

The man who authorities say impersonated a police officer and shot two state lawmakers north of the Twin Cities is believed to be 57-year-old Vance Boelter, multiple sources told the Associated Press.

A traffic stop at a convenience store located near Onamia late Saturday morning involved a vehicle which was carrying Boelter’s wife, as well as three other relatives.

Authorities identified the man suspected of shooting two Minnesota state lawmakers Saturday as Vance Boelter, 57, of Green Isle.

The suspect, identified by authorities as Vance Luther Boelter, posed as a law enforcement officer to gain access to the victims' homes.
