Avelo Airlines is closing its base at Wilmington International Airport and cutting service to 11 destinations from the airport, the airline announced Tuesday night.
Avelo Airlines says Wilmington Airport will serve as one of five hubs as they restructure their operations, but two new major destinations now appear to be in question.
Since coming to the Charlotte region in May 2024, Avelo has transported over 230,000 customers on more than 2,000 flights. As the third airline to operate out of Concord-Padgett, Avelo joins Allegiant Air and Sun Country Airlines in utilizing the single-runway facility.
