SUSANVILLE, Calif. — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake was recorded near the town of Susanville in Lassen County on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered around nine miles northwest of Susanville at 9:49 p.m. It was downgraded from an initial magnitude of 5.3.
Moderate shaking was reported near the quake's epicenter, with light shaking reported as far east as Redding, north into Klamath Falls, Ore., and as far south as Sacramento, according to the USGS.
