Novak Djokovic ’s decision to hire Andy Murray has been branded an “act of war”. The former rivals shocked the tennis world over the weekend, announcing that the newly-retired Brit would coach the 24-time Grand Slam champion during the off-season and Australian Open.

He also reflected on the new partnership between Djokovic and Murray: “He can contribute on the emotional side, on the mental side and, above all, bring him a lot in the game. Although Andy has no coaching experience, he has complete knowledge of Novak, he has known him for more than 20 years and that is a big advantage.”

Former eight-time Grand Slam champion in doubles Nenad Zimonjic underlines that Novak Djokovic is "a smart guy" and therefore knows extremely well why he added Andy Murray to his coaching staff for the Australian Open.
