Southern California welcomed a surge of moisture that forecasters say could be the first in a series of early March storms, including a potential atmospheric river.

On Monday at 2:08 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA valid from Wednesday 7 p.m. until Friday 7 a.m. The watch is for Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Southern Ventura County Mountains,

Rain totals on Sunday were between a trace and a half-inch in parts of Los Angeles County. The showers moved quickly through the area, at about 25 mph from northwest to southeast, and prompted a flood advisory in the Eaton burn area. The flood advisory was lifted when the rain moved out of the area.

While the Sacramento Valley is expected to see light rain Wednesday, the Foothills will see heavier rainfall while the Sierra gets a healthy helping of snow. The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing an Impact Day for the Foothills because some areas might see up to an inch of rain,
