The bank has been lowering rates since June as inflation slowed, but other risks are growing, including the threat of higher tariffs promised by President-elect Donald J. Trump.

The European Central Bank (ECB) is poised to announce its last interest rate cut of the year on December 12. Analysts expect the cuts will be modest, at 25 basis points, down from earlier speculation of a larger 50-basis-point move.

The ECB started cutting the main interest rates in June 2024, to boost the Eurozone's lagging economy, through lower rates to encourage borrowing, spending and investment. View on euronews
