Severe weather and flash flooding continue to threaten much of the central and eastern U.S. on Thursday, disrupting Americans' travel plans.

On Thursday at 1:11 p.m. a flash flood warning was released by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA in effect until 4:15 p.m. for Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

The National Weather Service issues several different flood warnings during appropriate weather events. Each one has varying levels of severity.
