A lottery player spent $2 on a ticket — and won a life-changing prize in North Carolina. The player tried their luck on Multiplier Mania, a progressive jackpot game. The person hit the jackpot March 15, making their online ticket worth more than $1.1 million, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

More than 715,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said. The Powerball jackpot was last won Jan. 18, when an Oregon player hit the $329 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
