A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Atlantic Ocean at 1:48 a.m. (local time), 87 km off the coast of the Dominican Republic, with a depth of 46 km. The tremor was felt in several areas of the country and parts of Puerto Rico.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit northeast of the Dominican Republic early Tuesday. It was centered about 60 miles north-northeast of Punta Cana with no reported damage or tsunami. The quake was felt in parts of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
