Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been appointed new head coach at first professional club Feyenoord.

Robin van Persie has been appointed Feyenoord head coach on a contract through to the summer of 2027. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker will be assisted by Rene Hake, who spent the first part of the 2024-25 season as assistant coach to Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Robin van Persie has been appointed as the new manager of Feyenoord, leaving his role at Heerenveen with immediate effect to take charge at his hometown club. The former Premier League striker, 41, will begin his duties at De Kuip on Monday after Feyenoord reached an agreement with Heerenveen for his early release.

Feyenoord have confirmed Robin van Persie as their new coach, a return to the club where he started and ended his illustrious playing career, after a deal was reached to release him from his position at Heerenveen.

Robin van Persie has been named as the new head coach of Feyenoord. Van Persie joins the Rotterdam side on a deal until summer 2027. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker has been coaching fellow Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen since July, with the Friesland side currently ninth in the Dutch top flight.

Robin van Persie could be back at the Emirates soon to take on Arsenal in the Champions League. The Dutchman spent eight years as a Gunner and played more games for the North Londoners than any other club in his career.
