Russia's defence ministry said on Sunday that Ukraine had broken the Easter ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin more than a thousand times, inflicting damages to infrastructure and causing civilian deaths.

Russian president had called for a 30-hour halt to attacks in Ukraine if Kyiv also agrees to a truce.

Putin declared a unilateral truce to begin at 6 p.m. Moscow time. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said “Russian artillery fire has not subsided.”
