As far as party invitations go, the Met Gala —the glitziest, glamorous-iest, highest-wattage bash of them all—ranks among the most impossible to turn down. Unless, of course, you happen to be Justin Bieber or Timothée Chalamet and your respective favorite teams are both kicking off their second-round playoff series on the first Monday in May.

Justin Bieber is not the only celeb skipping the Met Gala 2025 in favor of sports. Despite girlfriend Kylie Jenner making an appearance, Timothée Chalamet was nowhere to be seen at the famed event, where he once served as co-chair. The reason? Basketball.
