Pope Francis is resting after he suffered further setbacks in his fight against pneumonia. In its early Tuesday update, the Vatican said: “The pope slept through the night, now rest continues.”

Pope Francis has been hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since mid-February, where he has been battling double pneumonia. On Friday, he had a sudden respiratory episode, which required him to receive an oxygen mask. His current hospitalization is his fourth - and now longest - stay since he became pope in 2013.

Francis, who has been in Rome's Gemelli Hospital since February 14, is again receiving "non-invasive, mechanical ventilation" to help with his breathing.
