Rakim Mayers, better known as A$AP Rocky, was acquitted on Tuesday. He had faced up to 24 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

After closing arguments in the trial of ASAP Rocky, a Los Angeles jury will decide whether the rapper is guilty of assault charges that could land him in prison for nearly 20 years.

ASAP Rocky’s legal fate has been decided by a jury of his peers. Today (February 18), the “ Tailor Swift ” rapper received the verdict in his felony assault trial. As read by the juror foreperson, ASAP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) was found not guilty of assaulting former friend Terell Ephron (professionally known as ASAP Relli).

Following the verdict, Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, released a powerful statement on the case, calling the charges a “charade” that unjustly consumed years of the rapper’s life.
