According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, an upgrade at the goaltending position isn't a priority for Oilers GM Stan Bowman.

Calvin Pickard, the 32-year-old goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers, helped end the team's losing streak with a game-saving performance against the Carolina Hurricanes. Pickard's 35 saves led the Oilers to a 3-1 victory.

The Chicago Blackhawks have officially traded starting goaltender Petr Mrazek to the Detroit Red Wings, taking yet another goalie option off the board for the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers aren’t desperate to add anywhere, but there are a few spots where solidifying sure would be useful.

Pickard is coming off a solid 35-save victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday and will get the opportunity to make consecutive appearances for just the fourth time this year. It would likely take an extended run of form for the 32-year-old backstop to steal the starting job away from Stuart Skinner but it's certainly not an impossible task.

Pickard stopped seven of 11 shots in one period of Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Ducks. Pickard held firm early in the contest, but he gave up four goals in a span of 6:41 to close out the first period. Stuart Skinner took over in goal for the final two frames.

Adam Henrique and Corey Perry scored to help the Edmonton Oilers beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1. Connor McDavid added an empty-netter and Calvin Pickard stopped 35 shots for the Oilers, who snapped a five-game losing streak and got their first win since Feb.

Edmonton Oilers management have sent the message they’re not in the market for goaltenders, but one has to wonder if that will change after the team’s first period against the Anaheim Ducks changes that.
