Steve and Kristi, the parents of Kaylee Goncalves, along with their attorney Shannon Gray join TODAY to share their reaction to Bryan Kohberger’s guilty plea and why they had hoped the case would go to trial.
This is Bryan Kohberger’s signed confession for the murders of four Idaho college students in 2022 — but he still offers no explanation of why he butchered them in their sleep. The document includes his admission that he broke into the off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho, on Nov. 13, 2022.
The only intrigue within the written confession was of the typographical kind: Kohberger crossed out a date on the bottom of the document that read “June 2025,” an apparent typo. He corrected the date to July 1 and signed his name in slightly misshapen cursive writing.
The state is showing BK mercy by removing the death penalty. BK did not show Kaylee ANY mercy,” the Goncalves family wrote.
