DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings have a couple of needs and a lot of cap space, and general manager Steve Yzerman undoubtedly would like to provide a boost to his team’s playoff push by making a move or two by Friday’s 3 p.m. deadline.

The Red Wings currently sit outside of a playoff spot with a 30-25-6 record and 66 points, one fewer than the Ottawa Senators in possession of the second wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference. While defense remains a priority, adding a versatile center like Cozens could help them solidify their depth for a postseason push.
