A rare winter storm is forecast to impact southeast Texas from Monday evening through Wednesday morning, bringing a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

It is all hands on deck in the City of Houston as preparations move forward for a potentially historic winter storm in southeast Texas. Mayor John Whitmire said planning began on Thursday and will continue as the worst of the weather moves in Monday evening.

The much-anticipated arctic cold front has arrived here in Southeast Texas. Temperatures have already plummeted to near freezing Sunday morning, but that’s just the beginning of this prolonged cold-weather event.
