Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, one of the most prominent Jewish politicians in the country, criticized New York Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani for not doing more to combat antisemitism on the campaign trail — contributing to an attack line against the progressive candidate.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is among the establishment Democrats who have hesitated to embrace Mamdani, a democratic socialist and vocal critic of Israel. Mamdani also has yet to win the endorsements of Jewish Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer and House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, though both congratulated him on his primary win.

Two top Jewish Democrats, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and former Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, criticized Mr. Mamdani for not condemning those who use the slogan “globalize the intifada.”
