South Boston St. Patrick's Day parade will start an hour-and-a-half earlier than past years in an attempt to prevent "unruly and unlawful behavior," police said.

Our goal is to enhance public safety and cut down on the public drinking and curtail the unlawful behavior that we’ve experienced, particularly last year,” Police Commissioner Michael Cox said.
