The Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2025 was unveiled last night at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, bringing exciting news for London's culinary scene. A total of ten London restaurants were awarded their first Michelin star, while two establishments elevated their status to two stars.

One of the saddest losses in 2024 was Purnell’s in Birmingham. It earned its Michelin star in 2008, just one year after it opened. Owned by Glynn Purnell, the beloved restaurant had to shut its doors in October, following a ‘really tough time’ that saw bookings fall by more than 20 percent.

A Cardiff chef has said that gaining Michelin star status has been a dream of his for a long time. Gorse restaurant, in Pontcanna, is the first restaurant in the city to gain Michelin star status. Founder Tom Waters said it's surreal and the feeling is still sinking in.
