The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against New York City, challenging its so-called sanctuary city policies, as the Trump administration continues to crack down on immigration.

The Justice Department on Thursday announced a lawsuit against New York City’s so-called sanctuary city policies, days after the Trump administration blamed those policies for the shooting of an off-duty US Customs and Border Protection officer in Manhattan.

The U.S. Department of Justice is suing New York City and Mayor Eric Adams over its sanctuary city policies, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi. In a post on social media Thursday afternoon, Bondi said Adams and the city are “continuing to obstruct law enforcement” with the sanctuary city laws in place.
