With maximum wind speeds back down to 125 mph, Erin remains a Category 3 storm, but is expected to strengthen again in the next few days. NHC said the storm is getting bigger, with hurricane-force winds extending 25 miles from the center and tropical storm-force winds extending up to 205 miles.

(Reuters) -Hurricane Erin, which is the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, could become a Category 5 hurricane, with additional strengthening expected this afternoon, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Saturday.
Hurricane Erin, the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025, has weakened to a Category 3 but remains a major threat. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands, while the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are experiencing heavy rains and gusty winds.
While the threat of any direct impact to the East Coast and Bahamas is easing, NHC said swells generated by Erin would likely lead to life-threatening surf and rip currents along the East Coast beaches next week.
