The future of the Tampa Bay Rays is still in doubt after a letter from Rays President Matt Silverman to Pinellas County Commissioners.

According to the agreement approved by the County Commission and the City Council in separate votes taken in July, there is no deadline for the bonds to be approved. The Rays are responsible for paying $700 million for the stadium, plus all cost overruns for the new stadium and Gas Plant District.

In a response letter sent Friday, the Rays said the agreements to build the new $1.3 billion stadium are in effect until one of the parties involved backs out or deadlines are reached.
