U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Poland's foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski of "making things up" and suggested on Sunday he was ungrateful, in a strong rebuke after Sikorski said Ukraine may need an alternative to the Starlink satellite service.

In response to Musk's post, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski emphasized that the Polish Digitization Ministry is one of the largest providers of Starlink to Ukraine, with Warsaw funding half of the 42,000 Starlink terminals operating in the country at a cost of about $50 million a year.

Elon Musk vowed Sunday to maintain Ukraine's access to his Starlink satellite network, after a clash with Poland's outspoken foreign minister.

Poland, which pays for Ukraine's Starlink internet services, may seek an alternative if Elon Musk's company proves to be "unreliable", the foreign minister said on Sunday after the billionaire speculated about turning off access to the system.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski confirmed on Feb. 25 that Poland has ordered 5,000 Starlink terminals for Ukraine.
