Rangers to scratch captain Jacob Trouba with trade or waivers placement looming
Trouba, who has a year left on his contract at an $8 million cap hit, did not want to leave the Rangers this summer when general manager Chris Drury was looking to alter the veteran core of the team. Trouba’s wife, Kelly, is in the final year of her medical residency at a New York hospital and Trouba did not want to uproot her.

GREENBURGH – Rangers captain Jacob Trouba will not play in Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Asked at the morning skate if Trouba has played his last game as a Ranger, coach Peter Laviolette said: "He's not in the lineup tonight.'' Laviolette also was asked if Friday was a difficult day.
