Supreme Court bars suits against the Postal Service, even for intentional failure to deliver mail
The court said Congress in 1946 barred lawsuits against the Postal Service, including in instances where mail is stolen or misdirected by postal employees.
The tariffs, or taxes on goods entering the country, were imposed in 2025 by President Donald Trump, who cited the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 to issue the tariffs without congressional approval.
