Kluwe, 43, served as a punter in the NFL for eight seasons between 2005 and 2012. He initially landed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2005, but ultimately ended up being signed by the Minnesota Vikings at the end of training camp that season. Kluwe played all eight seasons with the Vikings before retiring in 2014.

Kluwe had been protesting the city's decision to display a plaque that features the words "Magical," "Alluring," "Galvanizing" and "Adventurous" — which spells out MAGA.

Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe called for "peaceful civil disobedience" and "no kings" on Thursday in the wake of his highly publicized arrest at a Southern California city council meeting earlier this week.

Huntington Beach police arrested Kluwe and he was released from custody four hours later. Kluwe was one of the NFL players who spoke his voice when it came to gay and trans people. He’s always spoken his mind and has never been afraid to take a stand.
