The first No Kings protest in Denver brought out more than 5,000 people to the Colorado State Capitol, and a reported five million people nationally. It was the last major anti-Trump protest in Denver before a clear downturn in attendance in July, August and September.

Demonstrators gathered in numerous Colorado cities and towns on Saturday as part of a nationwide No Kings protest in opposition to President Donald Trump’s administration. It was expected to be the largest day of anti-Trump demonstrations since June,

DENVER ( KDVR) — A “No Kings” protest in downtown Denver is causing road closures and service disruptions. The Denver Police Department said at 12:17 p.m. that Lincoln Street is closed at 14th Avenue and that additional road closures may occur in the area of the State Capitol Building. Alternate routes are advised to avoid traffic delays.

The “No Kings” theme was orchestrated by the 50501 Movement, a national movement made up of everyday Americans who stand for democracy and against what they call the authoritarian actions of the Trump administration. The name 50501 stands for 50 states, 50 protests, one movement.

Road closures are part of the Denver Police Department’s safety plan for the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference at the Colorado Convention Center from Saturday to Tuesday.
