In the blur of one of the most eventful trade deadlines in MLB history, one of the most beloved Kansas City Royals was moved to address a glaring hole on the team.

After the Fermin trade was announced, the Royals shared a “Thank you Freddy” post on social media. As Picollo noted, Perez took Fermin under his wing and helped his teammate and fellow Venezuelan with his development. Perez shared a special message for Fermin in response to the Royals’ social media post.

According to ESPN MLB Insider Jeff Passan, the Royals are sending catcher Freddy Fermin to the San Diego Padres in exchange for two right-handed starting pitchers: Ryan Bergert and Stephen Kolek.
