The woman charged with murder in the shooting death of a 28-year-old man in Lincoln Park last week called 911 to try to throw police off her trail, prosecutors said.

Despite the ruse, prosecutors eventually charged 25-year-old Josalyn Fowler in the April 16 death of Kevin Patel. A Cook County judge called the slaying "an incredibly violent offense, and random."

Josalyn Fowler has been charged with murder and attempted armed robbery following Kevin Patel's fatal shooting in Lincoln Park. Evidence including a false 911 call and a .40 caliber handgun linked her to the crime.
