TORONTO – More than three decades after Joe Carter touched them all, George Springer gave the Toronto Blue Jays another home run for the ages, vaulting them into the World Series for the first time since they won their second consecutive championship in 1993.
A Connecticut native sent the Toronto Blue Jays to the World Series Monday night. George Springer grew up in New Britain and graduated from Avon Old Farms and the University of Connecticut before making his MLB debut in 2014 with the Houston Astros.
Valdimir Guerrero Jr. continued his torrid October with two more hits including his sixth home run of the postseason to pace the attack. The first baseman is now hitting .462 during the playoffs. Addison Barger also went deep for Toronto. Josh Naylor went yard for the Mariners.
