It took a mere thirty minutes, and a little holiday magic, to transport about 60 Cleveland area kids from gate C29 at Cleveland Hopkins airport to the “North Pole” during United’s annual Fantasy Flight.

United Airlines is flying hundreds of children in need on several flights this year to the "North Pole," a section of an airport transformed into a winter wonderland.

Dulles International Airport, United Airlines and Children's Hospice International team up and give some holiday magic to kids and families that need it more than most.

Really, the 125 pre-selected travelers — typically families that have children with cancer or who are grieving the loss of someone who died in active duty, per USA Today — were aboard a short flight that soared past Maui only to loop back around and land right where they started.

It was a dream come true for a group of South Florida children with special needs as they were given the opportunity to head to the North Pole.

It was a day full of magic and holiday cheer as United Airlines gave more than 65 kids and their families a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the “North Pole" on Saturday.

Children with cancer or who have been orphaned by the loss of someone on active duty are taken aboard the short flight to the fantasy land.

"There's a lot of impact with kids because they're special needs, underprivileged and the most heartwarming part is Gold Star kids who have lost a family member in the military. So I look forward to this every year.

Make-A-Wish partnered with United to send their wish kids to the select "Fantasy Flights" in Houston to the "North Pole."
