Car crashes into East Providence police cruiser
An East Providence police officer was injured Sunday night after their cruiser was struck. Officials said a vehicle could not stop, due to the wintry weather, and slid into the driver's side of the cruiser.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — East Providence police say one of their officers was treated for minor injuries after a crash Sunday night. Capt. Michael Rapoza told 12 News the officer was struck on the driver’s side of their cruiser in the area of James Street and Williams Avenue.

Police say Providence and Cranston police were escorting a funeral procession in the area of Cranston and Seneca streets when an elderly driver went to turn and hit the officer, who was on a motorcycle.
