May 19, 2014 · Mattapan isn't great, and has a high incidence of crime compared to other neighborhoods. Southwest Mattapan, practically in Hyde Park, is one of the better parts, probably. The best part of Mattapan is likely in the southeast corner over by Dorchester Lower Mills. Avoid the area at Blue Hill Ave & Morton St as best you can.

Aug 9, 2020 · Mattapan has some quiet streets, nice apartments and good restaurants. I know plenty of people who grew up there and love it. With that being said you have to check out the street/apartment you want to live in before you move. There is crime in Mattapan, but unless you are involved in gangs, drugs or prostitution no one is going to bother you.

Dec 28, 2023 · Converting it would mean a continous ride all the way from downtown Boston on the Red Line to Mattapan, and allowing the Valley Road station to be ADA compliant. This might induce new demand not existing right now.

Sep 17, 2013 · Mattapan Square, like Ruggles, Dudley & Ashmont, is a transit hub. you've got a whole slew of bus options , main streets to roslindale (Cummins), Dudley (Blue), HydePark (River), Ashmont/Codman (Babson->Norfolk) an easy 3 minute bike down River (Boston side) or Eliot (milton side) of the neponset to a rail-trail/coastal bikeway that stretches ...

Even in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury, the amount of violent crime is lower than "OK" neighborhoods in most cities. It's like a playground compared to actually bad areas of Philly, Baltimore, Chicago, etc. "Hip" neighborhoods in Chicago/Philly like Wicker Park or Fishtown are way more dangerous than Dot or Roxbury.

Dec 18, 2022 · The city has done a lot to bring Mattapan up and I love it. It’s location is prime being near affluent, developed and easily accessible areas like Milton, Dedham, Roslindale and Dorchester. I am looking forward to seeing what Mattapan looks like in 10 years. That being said, every neighborhood could be dangerous.

Nov 1, 2022 · Lower Mills - Basically Dot ave is the border between Milton, Dorchester and Mattapan. The ambiance of that part of Dorchester and Milton extends into Mattapan for a couple of blocks. Technically the restaurants on the west side of Dot Ave are Mattapan and the East side are dorchester, and the neighborhood line is in the middle of the street.

Jul 29, 2022 · I’m new to the area and will be using the Mattapan trolley as part of my commute. Online I see that there is a $2.40 fair to take it. Then I was told by my barber that it is free.
